“JRWA ANNOUNCES RATE INCREASE”

On October 6, 2017 Senate Bill 2 requires water districts, including JRWA, to implement an Asset Management Plan.  This mandated program ensures safe and reliable drinking water for all Ohio citizens.

The Board of Trustees and staff spent hundreds of hours developing this plan and on March 25, 2019, was successful in implementing this EPA mandated plan.

After reviewing various scenarios, which was necessary, they ultimately chose a hybrid model to implement the Asset Management Plan, with rates tapering off in 2025 to a cost of living index.

We initiated the analysis and are now compliant and, is the best cost-effective plan, which complies with the new law.

On April 15, 2019, during the 2019 Annual Meeting, the Board announced Resolution # 5-2019.  The JRWA Board of Trustees approved a 15% across the board rate increase effective June 1, 2019 for a period of 12 months.  JRWA is projecting the plan to increase water rates at the following amounts:  2020 at 4%, 2021 at 4%, 2022 at 4%, 2023 at 3% 2024 at 2% and 2025 at 2%, with yearly review and communication to the membership thereof.

The Board of Trustees feel that by implementing this plan, JRWA will continue to provide our members with the highest quality of water now and for the future.
